Kangaroo Island Freshwater Crayfish is
a large scale marron farm consisting of 100 open ponds of
various sizes covering around 25Ha. This makes us one of
the largest marron, (freshwater crayfish) farms in Australia.
Our ponds are designed to emulate the marrons natural environment.
Harvesting is conducted daily and marron (Cherax Tenuimamus)
are distributed live throughout Australia for use in the
restaurant trade.
Yabbies (Cherax Destructor) are also harvested and sold
in the same manner as our marron, live into the restaurant
trade.
Marron are sold in the four sizes: 150-200g, 200-250g,
250-300g, 300+g with a minimum 5kg order preferable. Yabbies
are sold from 50g to 120g in size.
Kangaroo Island Seed Potatoes is an established
seed potato property producing up to 1000 Tonne of seed
per annum. Kangaroo Island is a designated quarantined disease
free area for potatoes and as a result, our product is certified
Rating 1 and is produced in some of the cleanest soil in
Australia.
Principally we produce Coliban, Desiree & Ruby Lou
varieties for public sale. We plant our crops in early November
& harvest in March-April. Our seed is then available
for purchasers wishing to have winter plantings or store
for late spring early summer crops.
Good Food Kangaroo Island is an industry group
formed to encourage and support value adding producers and
protect the integrity of the Island’s produce. Regional
food groups have been established throughout South Australia
and are actively working with producers to establish regional
branding and long term relationships with major retailers
seeking access to high quality, branded products.
